Stephen Leather is one of the UK's most successful thriller writers. He was a journalist for more than ten years on newspapers such as The Times, the Daily Mail and the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong. Before that, he was employed as a biochemist for ICI, shovelled limestone in a quarry, worked as a baker, a petrol pump attendant, a barman, and worked for the Inland Revenue. He began writing full time in 1992, he has sold more than three million copies and his books are published in more than ten languages.

Very good closed door mystery novel. Here Detective Zhang goes to the UK, where his wife treated him with an invite to a crime writer event... inevitably, a real crime occurs, but Zhang is here to save the day. However, he is in for a cultural shock, as his talents are not really well appreciated by his British police counterparts. As usual, very good plot and humour. To note that there are lots of references to private eye Poirot - with comparison with Sherlock Holmes - which add to the interest (as an avid reader of Agatha Christie, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I can only appreciate these references!)Product details

Inspector Zhang Goes To Harrogate a short story eBook Stephen Leather Reviews
Stephen leather is an awesome writer, enjoy his stories
Always find this character intriguing
Always find this author interesting
I find it interesting how quickly these short stories solve the crime with the same depth as full length novels
A quaint short story with an interesting theme. A mystery in the mould of Agatha Christie whose character Hercule Poirot, is one of Inspector Zhang's heroes. Likeable key characters, and good description of local colour.
Thanks to the author for another good mystery read. This is number 6 in the past 48 hours of Inspector Zhang's Short mystery stories. All have been extremely enjoyable.
Discovered this character as I was reading Stephen Leather's full catalogue - found the character to be both funny and addictive - bought and read the whole series!
Always an easy read except for trying to second guess Zhang. Very plausible with no unlikely/unreal heroics.
This introduced me to a new author and for once, an Asian detective. Some nice humour, some interesting twists... I'll be looking for more Inspector Zhang books. Reminded me of Inspector Brunetti; a thinking man.
